Kegon Falls

The winter look of the falls, adorned with snow and ice

At Kegon Falls in winter, look at the flowing water and the snow and ice that the cold creates around it. Freezing and snow cover vary by day. Rather than staying outdoors long, enjoy how the falls look that day and then head to the next indoor facility.

Chuzenji Temple (Tachiki Kannon)

At the lakeside temple, touch Oku-Nikko's history and prayer

Chuzenji, a branch temple of Nikkozan Rinnoji, stands on the shore of Lake Chuzenji. The principal image, Tachiki Kannon, is said to have been carved by Shodo Shonin, who opened Nikko, from a standing katsura tree, and is enshrined still rooted in the ground. Looking up at its gentle expression, you may find yourself reflecting on the prayers handed down here.
